Unified Field Drawings

As per the example in the text, I submit to you three examples.

The example above is using ink, with a number 8 shading brush. I love the way that ink can fade out and create wonderful shadowing effects as the ink is depleted in the brush. However, it can also be difficult when you need to refill the brush over and over to maintain the same darkness. Overall, ink is my favorite medium.

This is an example of 6B graphite pencil. I enjoy using pencil because it is easy to erase if a mistake is made, but even pressing hard, it does not give the same effects as ink. I enjoy the fact that it blends easily, but not the fact that in order to make thick lines, you have to shade with the side of the tip.

Finally, I attempted with compressed charcoal. I love how you can get both thick and thin lines with the compressed charcoal, and how dark the tone is. My only complaint is that it sticks to pieces of the paper where fingers have been. But I loved the smoothness and ease of using it.

Experimentation 3

This is a picture I did in Acrylic with black, dark grey, and light grey for the background, as I wanted the focal point to be the can, which I used light grey, medium blue green, and dark green. I sketched out the picture first using a HB pencil.

Experiementation 2

A sketch of my awesome son Darby. I used a 2HB pencil with some light shading done by blending with my finger.

Experimentation with Various Mediums

Another attempt at a self portrait using willow charcoal on 65 weight paper. The only issue I had with charcoal is that the oil from my fingers caused some of the charcoal to stick, like on the right arm.

Self Portrait

My self portrait. I used HB graphite pencil, and did a diluted wash to add shadows for skin tone. It's a little rough, but I would love feedback!

My Inspiration

I have always loved spray paint and the beautiful things that it can do. I am very inspired by the talent it takes to produce pieces like this, as well as the skill of tattoo artists. I hope that everyone can enjoy the process that these unsung heroes of the art world go through to show off their work.
